EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS To ensure a great public education for every student, education support professionals (ESPs) want and deserve high quality professional learning and supports at every stage of their careers. OUR IMPACT Education support professionals (ESP's make a positive impact on the lives of students throughout their time in school and beyond. ESP's play a key role in ensuring student success, and their impact is even stronger when there are clear expectations, when they are valued, and when they have opportunities for professional growth throughout their careers. Education support professional members are an important part of Colorado's public education team. They include school secretaries, paraprofessionals, custodial staff, food service workers, interpreters, technology facilitators, attendance clerks, receptionists, bookkeepers, media assistants, faculty assistants, classroom aides safety monitors, technology services, registrars bus drivers, crossing guards, athletic secretaries and other critical positions. Nationwide, ESP members number one-half million and growing, making up more than 40 percent of the total K-12 education workforce. ESP members are critically important to the school community. ESP PROFESSIONAL GROWTH We work with our ESP's to create learning opportunities and support them to elevate their professional excellence throughout their careers. Many of us are required to hold special certifications or licenses. We take part in ongoing professional development to enhance our skills. We chose education as a career so we can make a positive impact on students. By joining TESPA, you will have access to NEA ESP trainings and also CEA CO-pilot courses, trainings & events. |
